KIMBERLY VREELAND CHIN

Kimberly Vreeland Chin is a reproductive health advocate and international volunteer. She is a founding member of non-profits benefitting impoverished women and children in India and Cambodia and has worked with refugees on the Thailand/Burma border as well as victims of human trafficking in Cambodia. Kimberly learned piano as a child and continued studying music through college. To her surprise, music at times became a means to communicate while working abroad, a common language when words failed. These experiences, the clinical and creative, are interconnected and Kimberly is excited about using her diverse non-profit experience while serving on the Board of Common Tone Arts. Kimberly currently works in family planning education and counseling in downtown Seattle but sneaks away often to add to her passport stamp collection. Throughout this relief work around the globe, Kimberly witnessed the power of art and music within these communities. When language was a barrier, art broke that barrier down. When grief and pain seemed insurmountable, music provided healing.
