SUMMER RESIDENCY

2023 APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED. CHECK BACK IN THE FALL FOR 2024 PROGRAM INFORMATION!

Our residency is embedded within the Common Tone Arts Festival and takes place in Moscow, Idaho.

This residency is valued at $1200, with scholarships available through a separate application. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns about financial barriers! Applications are free.

Our current program is designed for musicians: all types of composers, improvisers, and performers. In years to come, we will expand into film, visual arts, dance, and poetry. We intend this residency as an intensive, on-location, active workshop, with live audience performances and premieres.

The ideal participant will be interested in preparing an original composition in advance of the festival, performing on works of others, and be game to grow their improvisatory skills with others. However, musicians who prefer to focus on one area are welcome to apply and participate. While intended for professionally minded artists, musicians of all abilities and levels are encouraged to participate (ages 18+). Additional professional musicians and composers will be embedded with this program and will be available for composer feedback, performing with the ensembles and leading workshops in improvisation, collaborative composition, and contemporary musician entrepreneurship.

You may apply for one or multiple of the following categories:

  1. COMPOSITION

  2. IMPROVISATION

  3. MUSIC PERFORMANCE

Specific scheduling, artistic guidelines, and location details will be provided upon admittance to the program.
