COMMON TONE MEDIA NETWORK

The Common Tone Media Network serves as an opportunity to introduce each other to powerful artist, hear about who they are and their work, and together will watch something they created. Our goal is to amplify these artists' work and expand the audience to create a weekly show that will always be entertaining, rich, and meaningful.

INCEPTION

Due to the pandemic, most artists have turned to the use of technology for artistic expression, a mechanism that will be their primary means until at the very earliest, the Fall of 2021. For the most part, artists have been focusing upon performance and online education. While these are both important elements for any artist/educator, we at the CTMN feel that this is a limited approach that can be expanded in a significantly more productive and meaningful manner.

We have conceived the CTMN as a means for artists to not only utilize technology for performance and teaching, but also as a way of maintaining meaningful contact with the fan base. The CTMN also provides a means to expand that base through their individual programs and interactively with the network of other participants, all in conjunction with the Network’s outreach efforts. Fundamental to this plan is the artists reaching beyond the element of their artistry to provide a deeper and valuable insight into their personalities and individual humanity – a vital element that is often not so readily apparent in the process of pure artistic expression.

The network will launch with a monthly series of half-hour programs in magazine format. Each individually produced program will be comprised of 6 to 8 individually connected elements touching on the producing-artists’ particular areas of interest. These subjects may include:

  • Personal angles of perspective on philosophy, politics, social issues

  • Other artists who inspire and influence in all disciplines.

  • Conversations and/or interviews with colleagues

  • Showcases for personal students and other artists

  • Other forms of personal expression e.g., poetry, painting, literature

  • Personal pleasures like cooking, sports, films, etc.

  • Anything else that provides an insight on who they are and what they are about

Our goal is to create community, not only among the participants in the Network, but also with those who partake in the Network’s output, hopefully cross-collatorizing each individual fan base with the others, and with the community connected through the Network itself. It’s our hope that the participants will mutually interact with each other to create and share content developed as a result of their interconnections.

From a purely commercial angle, the Network is designed not only to increase product sales in music and other items of the artists’ productivity, but also to stimulate a deeper desire by the fan to interact both through the interactive elements of the Network and in person when the limitations imposed by the pandemic pass. The CTMN will not only provide connections to each artist’s personal means of product sales, social media and business structures, but will also set up a unified marketing apparatus for all involved.  Each show will be marginally shorter than the 30-minute structure and in that space will be promotion of other shows and/or product.

At this time, the intention is to make each month’s new series of shows free to the public, with a subscription element that will give the viewer access to the previous months’ productions as well as any other programming that the artists may choose to make available through this mechanism.

In a worst-case scenario, if things don’t fully return to normalcy, this Network will create a viable alternative that should remain a constant in each artist’s means of expression. If the pre-pandemic normalcy does return intact, the Network will provide an important element of outreach and connectivity for each participating artist for all future endeavors.
